Gulangyu Island, morning
Fujian Fellowship

Bring your craft. Bring your family. Leave with a second home.

A cultural residency for people whose work can open a room — and keep opening doors long after the visit.

What it is

A residency, not a tour.

Limited fellowship places welcome university professors, performing artists, writers, cultural leaders, and athletes — especially athletes. The fellow and accompanying immediate family receive covered accommodation and in-Fujian program costs for the residency period, arranged through partner institutions and confirmed in writing before travel.

For scholars

Teach & exchange

A lecture, seminar, school visit, public talk, or faculty workshop with a Fujian host — in your field, on your terms.

For artists

Perform & create

A performance, reading, masterclass, studio workshop, or creative exchange. Artists may also explore local presenters, partners, and future China opportunities.

For athletes

Train & compete

A training-camp exchange with a sports school or university, youth coaching clinic, exhibition match, or friendly competition.

Gongfu tea pouring
One contribution. Many possible forms.

The exchange runs both ways.

Fellows contribute their craft; Fujian contributes its own — tea masters, musicians, makers, and hosts who have spent lifetimes on their disciplines.

Learn first

Context before contribution

Every residency opens with grounding — the region's history, the Fujian × West connections, and the people you'll meet.

Contribute

Your craft, in Fujian rooms

One substantive contribution — a lecture, a performance, a clinic — shaped with your host, not staged for cameras.

Carry home

A second home, not a souvenir

Fellows leave with relationships, collaborators, and — where there's appetite — future China opportunities in their field.

Stated plainly. Fellowship places are limited and competitive. Institutional support is confirmed in writing before any travel is booked — never assumed. Fellows are selected for the doors their work can open, in both directions.
